First I cut the hoops off the back of the buttons with plyers.

Glue the diamante hearts onto the earrings blanking plates and ring base.

Ta Dah! Project complete in less than 5 minutes.

Customised Diamante Face Mask

This week i had to take one of my children to an appointment where i had to wear a mask. Although I've been wearing masks regularly throughout the pandemic, this is the first time I've had to wear one in front of one of my boys. He's a little on the anxious side, so i thought if i customised my mask to make it look a little more friendly and fun, he would find it less frightening, and hopefully find the transition of me and others wearing face coverings less intimidating. 

What says fun and friendly better than a sparkly smiling teddy bear face?

I had a root around my craft box and opted for these small crystal AB diamante. They are a great choice for this project because you can attach all the stones around the darts and seams without compromising the integrity of the mask or your design. They are also fine to be hand washed at 30, as is the mask. The glue is also perfect, it drys fast and clear, but most importantly it has a little give and stretch in it, rather than drying like a hard rock.

Make a simple template to draw around, so that your design is symmetrical on both sides.
I chose these 3mm crystal AB diamante 

Apply the diamante glue into your desired shape and place the diamante on top.
Press down firmly as you go.
Use diamante glue E6000

Apply the diamante smile on both sides. 

Add a line of diamante along the front centre seam to finish your design off!

DIY Fashion: Embellished Denim Hot Pants

Iron-on motifs, fresh and floral neckline applique and iron-on diamante and nail-heads make it super simple to refresh your summer wardrobe this season.

This week we have embellished a pair of denim shorts with coloured metallic nail heads, iron on diamante and some embroidery thread. What do you think?

Shorts Embellished with 3mm Hot-Fix Crystal Diamante in a Heart Shape

To create this simple transformation we used a Kandi Kane hot-fix wand. This is the professional tool to apply hot-fix crystal diamante, pearls and nail heads. The wand heats up with two minutes making light work out of what can be a very time consuming and fiddly job! No more applying glue with tooth picks and picking the stones up with tweezers… this wand does it all for you, and without any mess!

The box includes 8 interchangeable tip sizes; 2,3,4,5,6 & 7mm, plus 4 & 9mm flat heads for nail heads, a UK plug and is CE approved.

Stringing Materials

1: Measure cord so it fits your wrist comfortably, allowing for an extra 10cm. Cut three lengths and tie a knot at one end of each piece. Add a crimp bead, then thread the cord through a 3-bar spacer.

2: Push another crimp onto the cord. Add the first set of beads, then finish the row with a diamanté. Double check the amount of beads used against the size of your wrist as you work. Repeat three times. 

3: When the stringing is complete, thread the remainder of the cord back through the first crimp bead, the corresponding hole on the spacer bar, then the second crimp. To secure the beads in place, squash the crimps flat using pliers. Untie, then snip off excess cord.

4: To create the feature charm, assemble a small length of chain using three jump rings. Thread a selection of pearl and diamanté beads onto 1” head pins. Trim away 1cm above the beads. Using pliers, bend the wire into a loop. Secure onto the chain at different heights, from smallest to largest to create a cluster effect. 

5: Finish with a mother-of-pearl heart button, securing a pendant mount through the bottom hole using pliers. Attach to the last jump ring on the chain. Add a mother-of pearl pendant mount, then hang from the bottom hole of the 3-bar spacer.

Top Tip:

Don’t be put off by the many types of  findings, look at how shop bought jewellery is constructed and use it as a guide!

Make for Mum: Habby Necklace

Mother's Day is fast approaching. What better way to say 'i love you' to your Mum this year, by creating her this unique necklace, tailoring the fabrics, colours and beads all to your Mum's personal tastes. 

Here's How:

Cut out your desired collar shape from a sturdy felt.

Choose a collection of clear acrylic stones in a selection of shapes. Cover them with a thin chiffon material, so you can still see the facets of the gems. Gather the fabric at the back of the gem and tack it together. 

Sew the fabric covered stones onto your felt collar. Position them so that they sit slightly higher than the top edge of the collar to hide the felt.

Line up a string of multi-coloured beads made from precious stones along the bottom edge of the collar. Tack the string to the collar every 3 beads.

Fill in the gaps between the gems and beads with sew-on genuine crystal diamanté stones in clasps.

Measure a strip of black grosgrain ribbon to the length you wish your necklace to be. Cut it in half and stitch one end of each strip to the back of each tip to create the 'chain'.

Slot a ribbon end clasp onto the tip of each ribbon and close in place with a pair of jewellery pliers. Finish off with a screw clasp.
